Good friends are God's gift to us. To put a smile on our face when we feel down, to halve our burden, to multiply our joy. They are God's way of showing that He cares. Friends are angels in disguise, though they may not realise it, and we may not know it.
Youths out there, you are (i was) very privileged to be in a church environment where you can befriend brothers and sisters in Christ, especially through Joshua Fellowship. But note that you (we) must be wise in choosing friends. AND...ahem-ahem,don't misunderstand...NOT BOYFRIEND & GIRLFRIEND ahh...
A true and good friend will be like an umbrella in the rain, always there for you, ready to help and encourage you.
True friends will respect you for who you are, and you don't have to "prove yourself" to befriend them.
They will accept you--weaknesses and flaws and all embarrassing habits and still proud to call you their friend.
I am most blessed by God to have a great and wonderful roommate as a friend (although she says we're roommates, not friends..hehe..). She is JS (ok, it's just her initials ,she dowan you guys to find her on facebook or wat waa..) I prayed sooooo hard for a good Christian roommate like her. Just like I did b4 going to matrics and I got Hannah..haha...
We encouraged each other with the word of God whenever we feel homesick, overwhelmed by the homework and assignment yang bertimbun-timbun, or when we feel that we are just not good or smart enough ( yep, as i said b4, poeple here are reeaaalllyy smart wan oh, all top-top punya result...and full of self-confidence...scary...). It feels good and comforting to know that we have Jesus and each other.
Wah...you may think I'm so spiritual and "holy-holy", only talk these stuff with my friend. No lah, besides talking about funny school stuffs and girly stuff (Waa...Esther talk about girly stuff geh meh...jeng-jeng-jeng...now baru u know me..), we help build each other's faith. It's good to have such friend especially when you are ( I am) away from family, away from your ( my) homely-church. Then, we would not be led astray, because there's always someone you can be accountable to, and who can encourage you in your faith.
Love your friends, if you don't have true friends, ask Jesus to be your best friend, and ask God to bless you with a true friend, and please, be a true friend to your friends.
To my friends in Sandakan and Matrics Labuan: I love and appreciate you all, thanks for being my friend and thanks for all the memories we shared. Really missed you guys, you were great!!!
Once a friend, always a friend,
Love,
E.
