Be prepared for our departure

Life is really short.
Our days on earth are numbered and only God knows the date of our departure.
Our days fleet by, as we are
engrossed in accumulating material wealth that cannot go with us to the next life,
engrossed in counting the times that people hurt us,and planning revenge,
engrossed in pleasing men instead of God,
engrossed in whining and complaining,
engrossed in thinking of I,me, my, mine,myself...
not realising that all these things took our focus off Christ's work on cross, stole our heart from Jesus, and took our minds off pleasing our wonderful and loving Father.
Will we be ready when God announces our departure? Or are we scrambling to gather our earthly wealth only to realise that they are worthless? Or are we panicking in search of our heart, wondering where was it all this while?
